Internships – Kansas Wesleyan University Athletics

Kansas Wesleyan Athletics is looking for volunteer student internship assistance with the areas below. Positions are available for the summer, fall semester, spring semester or both semesters.

  • Assistant to the AD – office hours, helping with special projects, developing reports, policy manuals, working with student groups, etc.
  • Ticket Sales Specialist – working under the direction of the AD to reach out to the community to sell tickets to home events. Duties will include phone solicitation, preparation of special flyers and emails, follow up with groups at games
  • Corporate Partner Specialist – working with the AD to assist with the corporate partner program. The student will help design proposals, implement elements of partnership and plan the elements of a fulfillment binder for each major partner. The student may also have the opportunity to solicit partnerships. Will require gameday and office work.
  • Gameday – looking for students willing to work gameday in a variety of key roles, from gameday promotions to hospitality to operations oversight.

A NOTE FROM MIKE HERMANN, DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS:

As you may know, we have a small fulltime staff. Therefore, each student intern will have the opportunity to tackle tasks that provide real world athletics administration experience. It would be my goal to plan an internship that will give each student tangible items they can add to their resume and portfolio to help them gain employment after graduation. In addition, the student will have a stronger understanding of the operation of a key area in college athletics. I would remind students that those positions that include sales—tickets and corporate partnerships—are the ones that develop the strongest skills that may lead to employment in this field.

Kansas Wesleyan is interested in students who would be willing to work for the experience for one semester or for the full year. Gameday workers can assist on an as-available basis. The rest of the positions will require a dedicated office schedule. An interview will be required for any of the positions. Please send a resume and letter of application to Mike Herman (mike.hermann@kwu.edu), if you are interested in one of these internships.
