Wendy Stein is the band director at St. John’s Military School. Her teaching career spans the last thirty-seven years. Stein recently joined the adjunct faculty at Kansas Wesleyan University teaching clarinet and saxophone. Stein is an active member of the Salina musical community performing with the Salina Symphony as principal clarinet and as a member of the pit orchestra for musicals at the Salina Community Theater. Stein played baritone saxophone and clarinet with the Hays Big Band, lead alto with the director’s jazz band at the military school band festival and doubles on flute, saxophones and clarinet.

Wendy studied clarinet with Darrell Johnston a graduate of the Eastman school of music, Frank Sidorfsky, also a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, and J. D. Parr, graduate of Kansas University. Stein plays Buffet Clarinets, uses a Charlie Bay mouthpiece and ligature, and Pilgerstorfer Dolce reeds.
