A two-person exhibition featuring artists, Jamie Bates Slone and Gina Adams, will fill the gallery space beginning Monday, November 5.

Slone received her MFA in Ceramics from the University of Kansas in Spring 2012 and her BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Ceramics in 2008 at the University of Central Missouri. Her recent work deals with the fragility of the human spirit in the midst of illness and loss in relation to her family's history with cancer.

Slone has had her work shown locally and nationally including shows at First Street Gallery in New York, the Clay Studio of Missoula in Missoula, MT, and at the National Student Juried Exhibition at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery in Seattle, WA; in conjunction with the 2012 National Council on the Education for the Ceramics Arts Conference.

Adams received her BFA in painting, printmaking, and curatorial studies. Adams is currently a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Kansas. Her work focuses primarily on her mixed heritage of Ojibwe and Lakota, Native American, Lithuanian, and Irish blood lines.

Adams has exhibited across the country, and is represented by Pierogi Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, Three Graces Gallery, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and the Flat Iron Gallery in Portland, Maine.

A Gallery Talk will be held on Friday, November 9 at noon in The Gallery in Sams Hall of Fine Arts. The Gallery is open to all ages and audiences. At each Gallery Talk, an informal discussion with the artist about their works is held. Guests are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch if desired; however, snacks and drinks will be provided.
