Chuck Otte, the Geary County Agricultural and Natural Resources Extension Agent, will give the December program for the Smoky Hills Audubon Society. Otte’s presentation is entitled, “Kansas Raptors-Winter Time Confusion”, and will be on Thursday, December 20 at Kansas Wesleyan University.

It's the season of giving and in the true spirit of the holidays, Kansas Wesleyan is waiving fee applications!

Kansas Wesleyan students continue to pound the pavement for the country of Liberia. Three classes: Business Leadership, Consumer Behavior, and Team Building put their heads together and created eight gift baskets from generous community donations and held a raffle. Their biggest night came during sales at a home basketball game. Overall, they raised $2500 which will be split 50/50. Half will go towards creating a soccer program in liberia and covering uniform cost. The other half will benefit Tiyatien Health, a clinic that provides healthcare for the impoverished country.

Please remember that we'll be collecting toys and monetary donations for the Marine Toy Box Program until Wednesday, December 12. All contributions will benefit area children. Toys should be new, unwrapped, and appropriate for kids 0-12. Cash and check donations are welcomed, and checks should be made payable to "Marine Toy Box". Senior Kathleen House will perform her senior recital in December. It will be held on Friday, December 7 at 7 p.m. at the University United Methodist Church. The recital is a compilation of House’s four years of study at KWU.

Originally from McPherson, KS, House majors in Music Education and Music Performance with an emphasis in violin. 

The theme of her recital is “Nachtmüsik.” Works will include: “Silent Night,” “Sicilienne & Rigaudon,” “Schön Rosmarin,” and many others. House will play the violin and Judy Weber will be the accompanist.

Kansas Wesleyan Music Department Presents: The Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra and Full Orchestra in Concert

The majority of the instrumental music department will perform at Kansas Wesleyan University. The concert takes place on Tuesday December, 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Pioneer Hall in Sams Chapel. 

The Percussion Ensemble is directed by Dean Kranzler, the Wind Ensemble is directed by Sarah Bernard-Stevens, the Orchestra is directed by Ken Hakoda, and both Hakoda and Bernard-Stevens direct the Full Orchestra.
