Student-Athlete Honor Nights Begin Saturday

The Kansas Wesleyan Athletic Department will honor student-athletes for their accomplishments on and off the athletic field at halftime of the next two nights of basketball games, starting on Saturday, February 2 against Bethel College.
On Saturday, Kansas Wesleyan will honor the 2012 Women's Soccer KCAC Champions at halftime of the women's game against Bethel College. Tipoff for the women's game is scheduled for 5 p.m., at Mabee Arena. Wesleyan will also honor three women's soccer student-athletes that earned Academic All-KCAC honors this fall, four student-athletes that earned individual honors from the KCAC, three NSCAA All-Region honorees and head coach Mike Dibbini for being named KCAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year and NSCAA Women's Soccer Regional Coach of the Year in the Great Plains Region.At halftime of Saturday's men's contest with Bethel, Wesleyan will recognize the 2012 Men's Soccer KCAC Champions in addition to three Academic All-KCAC honorees, three Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes, two KCAC individual award winners, four NSCAA All-Region honorees and head coach Mike Dibbini for being named the KCAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year.
Also on Saturday night, Kansas Wesleyan will welcome Heusner Elementary students, staff and faculty to the games. Heusner Elementary will be recognized for their partnership with KWU for various events throughout the year. Students and their parents, and faculty and staff with their spouses, who are wearing a Heusner shirt will be admitted free of charge to the games. Parents or guardians must remain in attendance at the games with their children.
Honors night continues on Thursday, February 7 against Sterling College with tipoff of the women's game scheduled for 6 p.m., from Mabee Arena. During the women's halftime, Wesleyan will honor student-athletes from the volleyball, men's basketball and cross country teams. Among those being honored include nine Academic All-KCAC honorees from the volleyball team, two Academic All-KCAC honorees from the cross country team, four Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes from the volleyball team, one Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete from the cross country team, one Capital One- CoSIDA Academic All-District and Capital One-CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-America honoree from the volleyball team, a KCAC individual award winner from the volleyball team and Canon Fields from the men's basketball team will be recognized for earning NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Player of the Week honors. The cross country team will also recognize its 2012 seniors.
At halftime of the men's game against Sterling, Wesleyan will recognize student-athlete award winners from the football team, including 11 Academic All-KCAC honorees, four Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes, four Capital One-CoSIDA Academic All-District selections, two Capital One-CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-America selections, five First Team All-KCAC honorees, and two NAIA Football National Player of the Week award winners.
The basketball teams will honor their respective 2012-13 seniors on Saturday, February 16 against Tabor College in the regular season finale at Mabee Arena. Tipoff of the women's game is scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7 p.m.
