KWU Debaters Shine at Gorlok Gala Tournament
Kansas Wesleyan Debaters traveled to St. Louis, MO for the annual Gorlok Gala Tournament at Webster University January 27–29. The tournament featured 45 colleges from 22 states. All eight KWU participants placed in at least one event. Check out all of the results.
o Highlights: In Parliamentary Debate, the team of sophomore Autumn Zimmerman and freshman Megan Kline placed first in the Junior Varsity Division. In Individual Debate, junior Dakota Yates placed first in Impromptu Speaking and was a semi-finalist in Extemporaneous Speaking. Kline placed fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking and was Top Novice.

Diplomat in Residence to Speak about Foreign Service Work Feb. 10
Rob Andrew is the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomat in Residence at the University of Oklahoma. He is a Foreign Service Officer and has served at U.S. embassies in Mexico, Russia, Costa Rica and Sweden. He is also a combat veteran of the First Gulf War. Andrew will be speaking in Peters Science Hall, Room 201, from 11–11:50 a.m. on Friday, February 10. See the attached flier for more information.
Junior Visit Day Feb. 10
KWU will be rolling out the purple carpet for high school juniors on Friday, Feb. 10. Sessions will include Admissions and Financial Aid, Student Development (campus life and spiritual growth), a student-led campus tour and choice of an academic session in the student’s area of interest. DETAILS
Bone Marrow Registration Drive Feb. 11
Did you know that over half of patients searching for a bone marrow match will never find one? Give someone a second chance at life. Best of KWU Returns Feb. 23
An evening of presentations by Kansas Wesleyan student scholars vying for the honor of “The Best of KWU” will take place in Fitzpatrick Auditorium starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23. The public is invited to attend. Admission is free.
KWU Orchestra to Perform at KMEA In-Service Workshop Feb. 25
The Kansas Wesleyan String Orchestra will be performing at the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) In-Service Workshop in Wichita at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. Performers for the In-Service Workshops are selected by blind audition. The KMEA 2017 In-Service Workshop will be in Wichita February 23–25 at the Century II Performing Arts and Convention Center.
