The Smoky Hills Middle School Honor Band will join the Kansas Wesleyan Wind Ensemble in presenting a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in Sams Chapel, Pioneer Hall. The public is invited to this free concert.
This is the first year for the Smoky Hills Middle School Honor Band. It is comprised of music students from Brooks Middle School in Wichita, Osborne Junior High School, Rock Hills Junior High School in Mankato, Lakewood Middle School in Salina and Salina South Middle School. Students were nominated by their teachers. They will spend the day rehearsing music for the concert under the direction of Dr. Carl. T. Rowles.
The concert will include works by Sousa, Ticheli and Stuart performed by the KWU Wind Ensemble. The Honor Band will perform works by Mackey, Standridge, Perrine and Grainger.
