Kansas Wesleyan University is proud that, for the second year, its dining services have received the Gold Standard under Sodexo’s Mindful Certification Program. The certification recognizes health and wellness initiatives at Sodexo-operated dining venues.
Mindful by Sodexo is an award-winning, holistic approach to health and wellness that guides students towards healthier choices and makes it easy to select nutritious options. Mindful items are prepared using techniques and ingredients that minimize fat, salt, and sugar while maximizing flavor and fiber with lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Prominently displayed menu identifiers and easily accessible nutrition information help students make informed choices and understand the impact their decisions can have on their health and wellbeing.
The Mindful program sets certain criteria for Sodexo-operated dining venues through a range of categories including Promotion and Onsite Product Promotion, Food Product and Menu, People and more. To earn the Gold certification, dining services must take steps to meet health and wellness standards. This includes staff training, student education efforts on social media and offering daily, healthy options.
“We are proud to receive the Gold Standard in our Mindful program,” Leon Paredes, general manager of KWU’s dining services, said. “We are always trying to provide newer and healthier options for our students and clients.”
Sodexo operates Shriwise Dining Hall, The Den and catering services on Kansas Wesleyan’s campus. They serve KWU students, faculty, staff and the community.
