- Full Standing
Full Standing is reserved for students who are seeking the MBA degree and for those who meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Application form completed- apply online.
- An overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale).
- Provisional Standing
Provisional standing pertains to students who are seeking the MBA degree who do not meet the GPA requirements of “Full Standing”. If the student maintains a 3.0 in the MBA program, then the enrollment committee will upgrade their status.
Seniors who are enrolled as undergraduate students and are within 12 hours of completing their undergraduate degree with a GPA of at least 3.0 for their last 60 hours, may apply for admission to the MBA program. If they are accepted on a “Provisional” basis, they may enroll in 500 or 600 level courses for graduate credit if they have completed the appropriate undergraduate foundation courses. Courses numbered at the five or six hundred level may not be taken for undergraduate credit.
Cost
The cost of the MBA Program is $495 per credit hour.
Transfer Credit
Students may transfer up to 6 credit hours from another accredited graduate school, if such hours are compatible with the program at Kansas Wesleyan University. Transfer hours must meet the academic time limit requirement of six years. Only courses in which students have received a grade of “Pass/Satisfactory” or a grade of “B” or higher will be accepted. Students are required to complete at least 24 graduate hours from KWU.
Satisfactory Progress
Students are expected to make satisfactory progress in completing their degree by maintaining a Graduate GPA of at least 3.0 with no grade lower than a “C”. Students whose cumulative GPA falls below 3.0 will be placed on academic probation. Students on probation who do not earn at least 3.0 the next semester will be academically dismissed. Students who earn at least 3.0 during the semester on probation, but whose cumulative GPA is still below 3.0 will continue on probation for one more semester. If the cumulative graduate GPA is still below 3.0 after this semester, they will be academically dismissed. Students who are dismissed may reapply the following semester by writing a letter to the Enrollment Committee indicating a commitment to complete the degree.
Students may repeat a course in which they received a grade of “C” or less. A course may be repeated only once and only the last grade will be used to compute the student’s GPA. However, both grades will be recorded on their transcript. Students on probation should consider repeating courses in which they received a low grade.
Course Load
Although students who wish to finish in one year must take two classes per eight-week sessions, students can take only one class. Please discuss with the Program Director about what is best for your situation. Students taking six or more hours per semester will be considered full-time students.
Time Limit
The MBA must be completed within six years after completing the first course for graduate credit, exclusive of active duty in the armed forces of the United States. Exceptions may be made upon appeal to the Graduate Council.
Students who maintain continuous enrollment in the fall and spring semesters may graduate by meeting the requirements in effect at the time of their first enrollment for graduate credit or any subsequent catalog. Other students must meet the catalog requirements in effect at the time of re-enrollment or any subsequent catalog. The ending date of the catalog selected must not be more than six years old at the time of completion of the degree. Portions from different catalogs may not be used to satisfy degree requirements. Students having more than six hours remaining in their program may not participate in graduation ceremonies.
